Vocalist Laura Camara & The Jake Reed Jazz trio present an evening of song selections by the legendary Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington. This show will feature Camara’s fresh arrangements of selected works from the full spectrum of Ellington’s 50+ year career. On this musical journey, we’ll take you from the Brunswick Era, through the swing hits, sacred music, all the way to modern and solo recordings, showcasing all the many colors and shades of America’s greatest composer!
American vocalist and composer Laura Camara (pronounced “Kah-Mah-Rah”) is an award-winning jazz vocalist and composer from Columbus, Ohio. Laura has performed at top jazz venues and festivals around the world such as The Montreux Jazz Festival, The Boston Pops Jazz Festival, and the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program at the John F. Kennedy National Center for the Performing Arts. Laura has also headlined international festivals and events such as The Ubud Village Jazz Festival in Bali, Indonesia and the Jazz For The King Concert for the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. In addition to live performances, Laura has been a featured artist profiled on WGBH Boston’s National Public Radio and famed New York City Web Series Capsulocity.
