Gretchen Pleuss w/ Bethany Joy & Dan Socha Our 2nd & 4th Wednesday "Local Artist Spotlight" series continues with a double bill of remarkable acoustic singer/songwriter talent in this not-to-miss midweek show!

Wednesday, October 10

“As with some of her proudly stated musical heroes, which include Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, and Ani Difranco, Gretchen Pleuss keeps the music above the standard, three-chord, coffee-house troubadour sound with some cool chord progressions (a la Mitchell) and grooves. Pleuss also trusts her lilting melodies enough to use her quiet, emotive alto to sell her lyrics.” – Malcolm X Abram, The Akron Beacon Journal

To date, Pleuss has played at an array of venues throughout the United States, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Peru, and Ecuador and opened for prominent acts such as Lisa Loeb, Loudon Wainwright, Chely Wright, Damien Jurado, and Glen Phillips. Pleuss’ discography includes two E.P.’s and two full-length albums.

Joining Gretchen in her BLU debut as part of our new Local Artist Spotlight series is Akron, Ohio singer-songwriter, Bethany Joy. Her soulful, folk influenced melodies and poetic lyrics are backed by Dan Socha’s harmonies and lead guitar. Bethany is a member of four musical groups, including The Speedbumps and Thieves of Joy.
