Erin McDougald: “The Flapper Girl Sings” Hailed as "one of the best voices in jazz today" by DownBeat Magazine jazz critic, Howard Mandel (NYC), the Chicago jazz vocalist returns to her home state of Ohio for one night only BLU debut featuring an all-star band!

Friday, January 13

Improvisational vocalist, composer & bandleader, Erin McDougald, has been Chicago’s premier female bebop and modern-progressive jazz artist since the mid 2000’s. Her collaborative performances and recordings with the genre’s most prolific & legendary icons: soprano saxophonist Dave Liebman – known for his years with Miles Davis, trumpeter Tom Harrell (arguably the most renowned trumpeter of modern jazz) and bebop legend Ira Sullivan to name a few, and her international fans of widely variant ages and ethnicities have all helped secure her reputable standing in the global jazz scene.

Erin was raised in Delaware, Ohio and graduated from Bishop Watterson High School before attending University of Cincinnati and later graduating from Columbia College Chicago. She has headlined the world recognized Chicago Jazz Fest to crowds of thousands and repeatedly sold out famed venues such as The Green Mill, the Jazz Showcase, and famed NYC venues such as Smalls, 54Below, Metropolitan Room and Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s jazz club as a special guest with The Wynton Marsalis Big Band. Having performed in over 800 venues in less than 15 years and being named in “Who’s Who in the World” in 2013, McDougald has entertained everyone from Mya Angelou to Bob Dylan; currently splitting her appearances between Chicago, NYC and Northern California, the monthly headliner is in San Francisco’s Bay Area, Savanna Jazz club once a month, where she has performed to standing room only audiences.

McDougald’s critically lauded CDs will be sold here at BLU Jazz+ the night of the concert – don’t miss your chance to hear this dynamic vocalist before she continues on with her tour to Europe, get your tickets now!
