“Cure for the BLU’s”: Late Night Comedy Series featuring Mike Paramore Join us every Saturday for our new late night comedy series, "Cure for the BLU's!" Hosted by Eric Brewer & Willis Gordon, featuring Leslie Battle and headliner, Mike Paramore!

Saturday, October 10

Each Saturday night at 11:30PM, we turn NE Ohio’s premier live jazz venue into the best comedy club around for our brand-new late night comedy series, “Cure for the BLU’s!” This week’s show includes hosts Eric Brewer & Willis Gordon, featuring Leslie Battle and headliner, Mike Paramore!

Having started in the churches of Cleveland, OH, Mike Paramore gained experience working through the midwest comedy circuit since 2007. Mike has performed and competed in various venues, including being runner-up in the Columbus FunnyBone “Funniest Person in Columbus” contests, named Mountain Dew comedian of the week in 2008, and being a finalist in the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas.

A former featured comic for Time Warner Cable OnDemand, Paramore uses his love of providing people a break from the stresses of real life as motivation. Mike has become a nationally touring comic whose natural style of comedy afforded him the opportunity to open for comedians like Damon Wayans, “Cash Cab” host Ben Baily, Conan O’Brien writer, Deon Cole, Loni Love, Comedy Central’s Steve Byrne, Saturday Night Live’s Jay Pharaoh, and appeared on FOX TV’s “Laughs” in 2014.

Mike performed at the 2010 Stellar Awards and the 2012 Just For Laughs Festival in Chicago. Currently, Mike serves as Senior Artistic Director of Good Jokes Live! Comedy & Improv – a complete show featuring a stable of clean comedians, improv and sketch comedy.

About Willis Gordon

Born and raised in Canton, Ohio, Willis Gordon is not only a stand up comic and all around entertainer, but also an Acclaimed Author, Powerful Essayist, Controversial Columnist, Master Orator, Multi-instrumentalist, Singer, Boxer, and Veteran of the War on Terror. His work captures the essence of the classics while still maintaining a timelessly fresh and biting quality in his work. A man who will go wherever there’s an audience, Gordon has performed all over the country in many different mediums and incarnations, yet always remaining unmistakably “Willis.”

About Eric Brewer

Eric Brewer is a funny guy who also happens to bear a striking resemblance to actor Bradley Cooper. Brewer uses that similarity to his advantage in a charming and self-deprecating way that lets the audience know that looking like a movie star can go from charming to alarming in a hot minute. Brewer has been performing stand up comedy locally for about five years, and is committed to the Akron comedy scene. “I’m happy here, and I really enjoy being in a mentoring position for some of the younger comics. I don’t want to leave Akron for a bigger stage, until the Akron comedy scene is thriving. I want to leave knowing that I built something special in my hometown.”

About Leslie Battle

Leslie Battle is a Texas native who began her comedy career in July 2011 after an ‘uncivilized’ divorce. Instead of becoming crazy cat lady, she collects glasses from comedy clubs where she performs, but only after consuming the liquor in them.

A mother of to three (ages 21, 18 and 14.), Battle is also a career soldier who served a total of 26 years between her active duty and service in the Ohio Army National Guard. Her humor includes stories from her life of being a soldier, mom, and divorcee’ as well as observations about American Pop Culture.

Leslie offers a unique perspective and says things that other people think fairly regularly. A 3 time finalist in the the Columbus Funny Bone Talent search, she has also graced the stages of the Cincinnati FunnyBone, Wiley’s in Dayton (Ohio’s oldest comedy club) and numerous other venues throughout Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Oklahoma City.

Leslie was featured as the January 2015 Headliner Stand-Up Comic at Columbus Unscripted’s “Stand Up for Stand Up.”
