BLU Thursdays w/ Tommy Lehman In our 8th season debut, join us as the Akron native & young lion trumpeter, vocalist & arranger takes the reigns in hosting our weekly Thursday night jam session - bring your horn and come be part of Akron's jazz history in the making!

Trumpeter Tommy Lehman is a native of Akron and graduate of Firestone High School. He has been playing professionally in the Northeast Ohio music scene for the past several years, regularly performing with the Sam Blakeslee Large Group, Ernie Krivda’s Fat Tuesday Big Band, Alla Boara, Nathan-Paul & The Admirables, Bassel & The Supernaturals, and several of his own groups.
 
Upon his completion at the renowned jazz studies program at Tri-C in Cleveland, Tommy transferred to the prestigious Hartt School of Music in West Hartford, Connecticut to continue his collegiate studies with Freddie Hendrix and Javon Jackson before graduating in 2017.
 
BLU Thursdays are for musicians and music lovers alike! Come hang, have a drink (if you’re of age), and experience this exciting forum for musical expression. Bring your “axe” and play through tunes, pick up licks, trade 4’s, and enjoy the camaraderie of having a gathering place for the area’s finest professional jazz musicians (as well as the up-and-comers)!

Committed to the preservation of America’s treasured art form of jazz, BLU Jazz+ Masterclass Foundation (BJMF) is a new program developed by the founders of BLU Jazz+ Akron (BJA) that brings “front-row” jazz education performance & mentorship opportunities to student musicians and art lovers alike by presenting a series of masterclasses led by top visiting musicians from all over the world.
 
Recipient of a Knights Art Challenge grant award by the Knight Foundation, BLU Jazz+ Masterclass Foundation expands upon the essence of Akron, Ohio’s award-winning live jazz destination, BLU Jazz+ Akron (BJA), launched in Fall 2014.
