BLU Jazz+ announced as finalist in 2015 Knight Arts Challenge Akron

November 19, 2015 -

AKRON, Ohio – The first Knight Arts Challenge Akron was launched over the summer to open up opportunities for anyone in the Greater Akron community with a great arts idea to make a contribution to the city’s cultural growth. The tremendous response to the challenge resulted in 540 submissions from neighborhoods across the Akron community & Northeast Ohio region.

A broad range of themes is represented in the 58 ideas that were chosen as award finalists. BLU Jazz+ put forth an application for implementing an ongoing series of jazz master classes at the venue led by top musicians from around the world.

Winners will be announced in the Spring (April 2016) once the finalists’ proposals are reviewed by a panel of local artists and arts advocates.

BLU Jazz+ wishes to congratulate all of the applicants & finalists in the 2015 Knight Arts Challenge Akron!
