The BLU Jazz+ Social Media Intern is an exciting new opportunity to become part of the award-winning BLU Jazz+ team!
 
The BLU Jazz+ Social Media Intern is responsible for managing all of BLU’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+), and will serve as a digital strategist, writer & editor of BLU’s social content in step with its mission to engage a diverse audience in supporting, attending & learning about BLU Jazz+, the BLU Jazz+ Masterclass Foundation, and the jazz genre as a whole.
 


 

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule & edit Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google+ posts, define content needs and manage the scheduling, posting, and analysis of relative content and calls to action across all platforms listed above.
  • Organize & contribute to an editorial calendar, coordinate content creation with BLU staff members: VP of Talent & Events, Head Sound Technician/Artist Liaison, Private Events Coordinator, and waitstaff.
  • Source and create news posts, contests, trivia, and other information to engage BLU’s online audience.
  • Monitor, respond to, or assign & track comments, @ replies, and messages about BLU, its programs, and events in social media.
  • Analyze and track different approaches to content distribution and audience engagement in social media & look for new trends to implement.
  • Monitor trends in social media channels, tools and metrics and appropriately apply that knowledge to increase the effectiveness of BLU’s social media presence.
  • Support marketing efforts of BLU Jazz+ and BLU Jazz+ Masterclass Foundation (box office sales, merchandise, online donations, albums and other products as directed).

 

Qualifications:

  • Current college student or recent college graduate.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in executing successful social media marketing & digital campaigns.
  • Passion for jazz (its key figures, history, current trends, etc.)
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational & communication skills.
  • Experience managing & populating an editorial calendar is a plus.
  • Proven understanding of emerging technology platforms, online communities & industry trends.

 

Compensation & Work Hours:

  • This position is unpaid, but does offer complimentary admission for the BLU Jazz+ Social Media Intern (+1) into any show at BLU Jazz+ throughout the duration of the position appointment (Social Media Intern must present to use complimentary tickets).
  • College credit hours may be earned* (please confirm program eligibility with your college/university).
  • Part-time (flexible schedule; 15-20 hours/week)
  • Ability to attend at least 2 shows/week (with one day being a Friday or Saturday) at BLU Jazz+ in order to document in-venue experiences: meet the artists, livestream concerts & masterclasses, “BLU” Room interviews, photograph & post about artist performances, featured menu items/cocktails, etc.
