Join us for a very special evening at BLU Jazz+ as we present The Sidewinder Quintet in a tribute to some of the trailblazers of hard bop!
 
Led by saxophonist Dave Sterner, the group features some of Northeast Ohio’s finest jazz musicians, including University of Akron Professor of Jazz Studies, trumpeter Jack Schantz, and a stellar rhythm section featuring drummer Jim Rupp, bassist Glenn Holmes, and pianist Jackie Warren.
 
The music comes from the 1950’s and 60’s hard bop songbook made famous by musicians including: Cannonball Adderley, Art Blakey, Lee Morgan, Hank Mobley and more!
 
Drawing from influences in rhythm and blues, gospel music, blues, and bebop, the Sidewinder Quintet will take you for a ride as they perform some of the quintessential music from this exciting chapter in the evolution of jazz!
