Rose Colella & Dan Bruce Duo Known for highly personalized arrangements of standard jazz repertoire and Brazilian Bossa Nova, join us as this swingin' Chicago-based jazz duo makes their BLU debut - featuring special guest, Sam Blakeslee!

The Rose Colella & Dan Bruce duo is a fixture on Chicago’s vibrant jazz scene, frequently performing as a duo, but also working alone and together with many other musicians in a great variety of ensembles. The duo is known for highly personalized arrangements of standard jazz repertoire and Brazilian Bossa Nova. The duo performs at many of Chicago’s finest jazz venues including The Green Mill, The Jazz Showcase, and Katerina’s. Bruce and Colella have also performed throughout the region, the Midwest and Canada. They were recently featured in a special live radio broadcast for WDCB FM in Chicago.

Rose Colella

A rising star in the jazz world, vocalist Rose Colella, has released her much-anticipated album, “Cocktail” to sold-out audiences and global acclaim. Recently featured in The New York Times,The Chicago Tribune & The Chicago Sun-Times, Rose has also received mention in All About Jazz, JAZZIZ, NPR’s A Blog Supreme & LA Jazz Scene. Press reviews have described her as “elegantly tipsy,” “pure seduction,” “cooly coquettish” & “beautiful and inviting.” Rose Colella currently performs regularly at Chicago’s top jazz clubs and hotels, including The Jazz Showcase & The Green Mill, alongside the city’s finest jazz musicians. Rose received her Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Roosevelt University in Chicago and owns the entertainment agency Lola Bard Productions, named for her grandmother, a 1930s vocalist who performed and recorded with Bobby Hackett & The Original Dixieland Jazz Band. Rose & Lola were recently featured in The New York Times, with a story detailing Rose’s career as a jazz vocalist in Chicago, inspired by Lola’s career as a jazz vocalist in New York City.
 


 

Dan Bruce

Dan Bruce is a recent transplant to Ohio after spending a decade as an important member of Chicago’s jazz community. He has performed on more than twenty albums as a sideman, and is releasing his second album as a leader this spring. As a performer and recording artist, Bruce has had the opportunity to work with a number of eminent musicians including Seamus Blake, Ali Jackson, Dan Wall, Lynn Seaton, and The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra.
