The band will be performing the music from the legendary trumpeter’s 1957 recording, “Birth of the Cool,” on Capitol Records.

Davis, born on this day in 1926, recorded this landmark album for the label over the course of three sessions during 1949 & 1950, which features an unusual instrumentation & several notable musicians. The music consisted of innovative arrangements influenced by classical music techniques such as polyphony, and marked a major development in post-bebop jazz. As the title “Birth of the Cool” suggests, these recordings are considered seminal in the history of cool jazz.

Be sure to join us for this very special concert in salute of one the biggest contributors to jazz – Miles Davis! Get your tickets today!
