John Morton Memorial Tribute Session Join us as the Northeast Ohio jazz community assembles to celebrate the life & legacy of remarkable musician, friend & contributor to the local scene, John Morton, with a very special session in his honor at BLU.

Thursday, August 3

John Morton was born on November 17, 1955 right here in Akron, to the late Catherine and Washington Morton. He graduated from East High School in 1974 and attended The University of Akron.

Expertly versed in R&B, Jazz, Gospel, Pop, and Blues, John was one of the most dynamic, in demand vocalists in Northeast Ohio ever since he played his first professional gig.

Pianist & longtime Morton collaborator & friend, Rock Wehrmann, leads an all-star rhythm section in an open jam session as friends & colleagues celebrate John’s life amongst some of his favorite players. Musicians, bring your horn and friends, share your memories as we fondly remember John together through music.
