Originating in the jazz clubs of Washington, DC, the Fred Hughes Trio has been performing, recording and presenting clinics and workshops since 1989 and brings over four decades of musical experience to the stage. With Fred Hughes on piano, the group features Amy Shook on bass & Frank Russo on drums.
 

 
Pianist Fred Hughes is a former member and featured soloist with the US Army’s Jazz Ambassadors, was musical supervisor and conductor for the Three Mo’ Tenors and is the author of The Jazz Pianist: Left Hand Voicings and Chord Theory published by Alfred Publications. He can be heard on over twenty five recordings and has released twelve albums with his various groups including six on the EMI/Oasis Record Label in Asia. He has performed with jazz greats Al Cohn, Arturo Sandoval, Roy Hargrove, Bill Watrous, and Toots Thielemans. His conducting credits include the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, the Atlanta and Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestras, Washington and Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestras and the Los Angeles Philharmonic and he is currently the director of the Chesapeake Bay Community Band on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

The Fred Hughes Trio has shared the stage with such artists as Claudio Roditi, Jon Fedchock, Warren Vache and Larry Coryell and the groups recordings include Out Of The Blue, Live and No Turning Back as well as the DVD, In Concert, released in the Republic of Korea.

About Fred Hughes

Fred Hughes has performed in all fifty states, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea and Europe. A sampling of the jazz festivals at which he has performed include the Newport, Montreux, Nice and North Sea Jazz Festivals. He has conducted symphony orchestras to include the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cincinnati Pops and Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestras. Fred can be heard on over 30 recordings and his book, The Jazz Pianist: Left Hand Voicings and Chord Theory was originally published by Warner Brothers Publications and is now available from Alfred Publications.
