Harry Allen Quartet

June 27, 2015

The hard-swingin’ sounds of New York City based tenor sax titan, Harry Allen, filled “Jazz Central” as he brought his all-star band to Akron for their BLU Jazz+ debut!
Armed with his chart-topping latest CD, “For George, Cole, and Duke,” the band played some of the most treasured Great American Songbook classics, as well as some of Harry’s own original compositions, with style & sophistication. A roaring standing ovation at the end of the night brought the band back up for an encore.
Harry & his phenomenal group, featuring Grammy winning Bill Cunliffe, Joel Forbes, and Aaron Kimmel, made a big splash in their first trip to BLU, and we look forward to presenting them again in the future!
