Delfeayo Marsalis

August 13, 2015

Renowned trombonist, composer, producer and member of the legendary Marsalis family (father Ellis and brothers Branford, Wynton, and Jason), Delfeayo Marsalis, brought the swingin’ sounds of New Orleans to BLU this summer with an all-star band featuring Roderick Paulin, Richard Johnson, Jeff Pedraz, & Winard Harper.

Known for his “technical excellence, inventive mind and frequent touches of humor…” (Leonard Feather, Los Angeles Times), he is “…one of the best, most imaginative and musical of the trombonists of his generation.” (Philip Elwood, San Francisco Examiner) In January 2011, Delfeayo and the Marsalis family (father Ellis and brothers Branford, Wynton and Jason) earned the nation’s highest jazz honor – a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Award.

Delfeayo & his swingin’ band had the whole room along for the ride – we hope to have this world-class artist back to BLU Jazz+ in the near future!
